Eco-friendliness and sustainability are not mere goals—they are ongoing journeys shaped by persistence and the small, everyday decisions we make to protect our health and the environment.
As the founder and CEO of a leading cleaning company in London, I recognize that my choices carry the potential to significantly influence the environment. My role allows me to deeply understand my clients, their businesses, and their specific cleaning requirements, offering a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities in sustainable practices.
My commitment to sustainability began a few years ago with a project for one of our largest clients at the time—a hostel cleaning job that required extensive end-of-year cleaning. The task involved using harsh chemical solutions, which I later realized posed serious health risks to my team. Confronted with this reality, I knew a change was necessary.
While the project was lucrative, the wellbeing of my workers and the environmental impact of those chemicals outweighed the financial benefits. Rather than abruptly terminating a five-year partnership, I opted to triple our rates, making it clear that we could only continue under safer, more sustainable conditions. As expected, the client declined the higher cost and ended the contract.
Despite losing such a significant account, I was undeterred. The decision was rooted in a greater purpose—protecting my team and embracing a more responsible approach to business. I was confident that better opportunities would follow, ones aligned with our values and commitment to sustainability. And they did.
